online degree

Due to the fluctuating economy that we have now, my work at the bank became boring. A few clients would come in , not as compared before. Before lunchtime , I am almost finish with my work. This made me decide to keep myself busy with something else, and that is getting an online degree, where else but at an online university . My office mates recommended Capella University for the best in online education because it offers different programs, plus it is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission . I will start to inquire through their toll-free number and do a little research at their website too . I really feel excited now because this will be a new challenge for me.

dream honeymoon

Most brides that I know are really hands-on with all the preparations for their wedding. They go through everything, from the simplest details to the most complicated ones. It was 4 years ago when I started planning out our wedding but even until now, I feel excited whenever I see a bride. I can’t help but share with them my suppliers and even my own experiences. On June, my dear friend from High school will tie the know to her long time boyfriend, and apart from sharing her some wedding ideas, I am helping her with honeymoon preparations too. We are both looking for a luxurious and romantic place that will suit their budget. We thought of giving up because everything that we saw are way beyond their budget, but not until we saw the cancun honeymoons offered online. We both love the beachfront rooms at the resort that has hammocks at the veranda, king sized Jacuzzis and window-front views. I guess she got even more excited with the honeymoon than the wedding. Who wouldn’t? With that exquisite beach location, that would be the perfect place for honeymooners.

The Ox is Here!

Xin Nian Kuai Le!!!

As I have been so interested lately with the whole thing.. I've gathered some facts with regards to the Chinese New Year Celebration:

Chinese new year 2009 falls on 26th of January, 2009. The Chinese New Year is celebrated as the symbol of spring's celebration. In fact in China the Chinese New Year is still called the Spring festival. It is celebrated after the fall harvest and before the spring planting season. The date of the Chinese New Year is always changing and is dependant on the Chinese calendar. Emperor Huangdi in the year 2637 B.C.E invented the Chinese calendar.

here's some more from Wikipedia:

Mythology:

According to tales and legends, the beginning of Chinese New Year started with the fight against a mythical beast called the Nian or "Year" in Chinese. Nian would come on the first day of New Year to devour livestock, crops, and even villagers, especially children. To protect themselves, the villagers would put food in front of their doors at the beginning of every year. It was believed that after the Nian ate the food they prepared, it wouldn’t attack any more people. One time, people saw that the Nian was scared away by a little child wearing red. The villagers then understood that the Nian was afraid of the color red. Hence, every time when the New Year was about to come, the villagers would hang red lanterns and red spring scrolls on windows and doors. People also used firecrackers to frighten away the Nian. From then on, the Nian never came to the village again. The Nian was eventually captured by Hongjunlaozu, an ancient Taoist monk. The Nian became Hongjunlaozu's mount.

Greetings:

Happy New Year

simplified Chinese: 新年快乐; traditional Chinese: 新年快樂; pinyin: Xīnnián kuàilè; Hokkien POJ: Sin-nî khòai-lo̍k; Cantonese: san1 nin4 faai3 lok6. A more contemporary greeting reflective of western influences, it literally translates from the greeting "Happy new year" more common in the west. But in northern parts of China, traditionally people say simplified Chinese: 过年好; traditional Chinese: 過年好; pinyin: guònián hǎo instead of simplified Chinese: 新年快乐, to differentiate it from the international new year. And 過年好 can be used from the first day to the fifth day of Chinese new year.

Congratulations and be prosperous :simplified Chinese: 恭喜发财; traditional Chinese: 恭喜發財; pinyin: Gōngxǐ fācái; Hokkien: Keong hee huat chye (POJ: Kiong-hí hoat-châi); Cantonese: Gung1 hei2 faat3 coi4; Hakka: Gong hei fat choi, which loosely translates to "Congratulations and be prosperous". Often mistakenly assumed to be synonymous with "Happy new year", its usage dates back several centuries. While the first two words of this phrase had a much longer historical significance (legend has it that the congratulatory messages were traded for surviving the ravaging beast of Nian, although in practical terms it may also involve surviving the harsh winter conditions), the last two words were added later as ideas of capitalism and consumerism became more significant in Chinese societies around the world. The saying is now commonly heard in English speaking communities for greetings during Chinese New Year in parts of the world where there is a sizable Chinese-speaking community, including overseas Chinese communities that have been resident for several generations, relatively recent immigrants from Greater China, and those who are transit migrants (particularly students).

Good Fortune, Good Luck and Prosperity for all of us this Year of the Ox!!

Chair Talk

My uncle was recently released from the health care facility and he is currently recovering fast at home. He still has a few medications for maintenance and he is undergoing therapy at home. He can move slowly, but he can't stand for a long time yet. So my aunt is asking me to go with her at the medical supplies store to check out some shower chairs. She just need a simple bench type that can be folded to save some bathroom space. I checked online so we can somehow compare the prices later on. But I just saw that allegromedical.com offers a variety of designs with great prices and discounted shipping rates, so we might just buy it online.

Little Updates

I worked during the weekend at the Arena and I only had my free time today. It was tiring as usual especially during Sunday because it's kids day too. Would you believed that I bumped to Dora the Explorer at the elevator? I was Starstruck ! Hahaha. Today I plan to just rest and I have no plans of shopping because I am saving money. I might visit my sisters by the end of the year, i need pocket money since we are preparing for something big. I also need to lose some weight before going there, and i should start now to achieve the figure that I like, or maybe I will try some diet pills soon.

Nonsense thoughts at 1:16 AM

nothing really much to say... but i kinda miss blogging lately since i'm quite busy with my two jobs.. i actually just got home a 'lil bit past midnight and still on a caffeine rush that's why.. i think i have started the new year the right way and truly do hope that my plans and goals will be accomplished within this year.. and i have been good, meaning: haven't done that much shopping since the start of this year.. :) although i just got a mail from RL for their ongoing winter sale.. wow, i don't think i know how to blog anymore! i have some new friends online and we share some common interests on being a fangirl and i am really thankful for them since now i can talk to someone with regards to my fangirliness.. its been quite a bit boring at the bank these last couple of days, since its no secret that the economy is going bad and people just don't come in to the bank as much as before.. so there's some days when i'm done with my work early and then basically just try to find stuff to do.. that's when i decided to teach myself some Mandarin words, give me something to do and in order to be a bit familiar with it since i'm planning on taking some classes to learn how to speak Mandarin.. oopps.. its already 1:30 so i think i really need to fore myself to sleep since i also work tomorrow at noon.. : )

Bride and Friends

Last October, I went to a bridal party for my dear friend who got married to her long time boyfriend. They had a simple wedding with a small entourage - mostly their family members. Im not part of it, but i feel so grateful that she gave me one of those precious bridesmaid gifts , a silver charm bracelet with my initial engraved. She got it from The Knot Wedding Shop online , and she told me that she sourced most of her supplies there. I will surely note this website, as i have friends who will get married at the late part of this year. I can order here and just ship it to my friends in Manila. The website looks promising as they have unique wedding ideas at really low prices.

Coins

One of my officemates at the bank is retiring and im thinking of what to give her during her retirement party. It need not to be really expensive , Im looking for something that she will truly appreciate and remember. I searched online and what caught my attention are these rare silver coins from Monaco. I immediately contact the coin dealer to get more information about the products. I still can't decide if i'll get silver or gold coins, as both really looks classic. If I'll get additional discount, then i might get two. Who knows i might also start collecting coins from now on, just like my dad.
