Get to know Grimace

As we are basically dead these past couple of days at the bank, we find ourselves with nothing to do, and with that of course nothing's more hard than pretending to be busy when you're really not! : ) And today all of a sudden I brought up this conversation about Mc Donald's and on how their mascots are totally not "kid-friendly". Just like Hamburglar, he's wearing somewhat like a prison outfit right? And then I asked them about Grimace... Growing up in Manila, I tried to explain to them that we have our own number 1 fast food chain called JOLLIBEE.. And I've always wondered what's a Grimace?? To be honest I thought it's like a grape so it probably represents grape juice!! hahahaha.. Each of us have different ideas but none matches on what we found out on what in the world is Grimace?? So here's what we found on the net:
  • Grimace is a large, anthropomorphic tastebud with short arms and legs; he is known for his slow-witted demeanor. His most common expression is the word "duh". Originally, Grimace was the "Evil Grimace", with two pairs of arms with which to steal milkshakes. After that first campaign, the character was revised to be one of the "good guys", and his number of arms was reduced by two. Commercials and merchandise generally portrayed him as a well-meaning simpleton, whose clumsy antics provided a comic foil to Ronald McDonald. The character was retained after the streamlining of the characters in the '80s. ** from wikipedia**
Wow, so what?? he's a TASTEBUD?? hahaha.. He's been associated with milkshakes whom he's fond of stealing.. We cannot help but laugh the whole time and I promised them that I'll post it on my blog.. After that I shared with them our own Jollibee and I was so surprised that their official website is pretty good.. I was kinda scared first because sometimes some companies in the Philippines really don't have a nice website. And of course they find Jollibee the mascot to be so cute, they were browsing about the menu and I had to kind of explain it to them, especially the Palabok Fiesta and I guess they do have a Tuna Pie in the menu now..

So yeah, with this not so good economy right now here in the US, this is how we spend a day at work.. Random questions some senseless, some funny and some serious as well..

Excess: On Jollibee's website it says that a store will open here in Stockton in Winter 2008!!! Woohoo!! It's about time!! More about this next time were bored at work! : )

Free Medical Software

Me and my family went to he hospital the other night to visit my uncle who was hospitalized due to some medical complications. As I was waiting outside the room , I saw an advertisement at the bulletin board about free medical windows mobile software , something that would go with PDA's and other mobile devices. I got really interested and read the offer by Epocrates. If you are not familiar with Epocrates, it is a company that provides softwares for medical professional. This software is really a big help to the doctors and other medical staff, because most of it has the details of patients, and other medical files that would really come handy with your medical supplies. Now they can access files anywhere easily. So spread the word about this free offer from Epocrates.

This announcement was paid for by Epocrates.

Still Busy

Not much update for now, as I am too busy with work. Upon going home, I would rather rest and watch my favorite shows on prime time. I would just go online to finish my assignments, check me email and my friendster account too. Would you believe im not even doing some real shopping during weekends.

I hope to get back on track by August. July was such a busy month!

Not your drama queen

You Are a Drama Princess (or Prince)

You're not over the top dramatic, but you have your moments.

You know how to steal the spotlight...

And how to act out to get your way.

People around you know that you're good for a laugh.

But at times, your drama gets a bit too much for everyone.

Tone it down a tad, and you'll still be the center of attention.

Be Beautiful

One of my officemates at the bank who influenced me with Bare Escentuals is currently enrolled in one of the top beauty schools in the country. She only told me about this when she needs a model for an exam and she is asking me to help her out. I eagerly said yes when she told me that she needs to color and treat my hair. I got even more excited because she told me that the school uses high - end products during their exams. I think she is planning to get into cosmetology next time, with focus on facial make- up , also at Regency Beauty Institute. Now I am also thinking of enrolling myself there after hearing her great feedbacks on this beauty institute. I just wish I have the time for now as I am so swamped with work.

My taste in music

What Your Taste in Music Says About You

Your musical tastes are reflective and complex.

You are intellectual to the point of being cerebral.

You are very open to new experiences, and even more open to new ideas and theories.

Wisdom and personal accomplishment are important to you.

You are naturally sophisticated. You are drawn to art, especially art by independent artists.

You are likely to be financially well off... and not because you were born that way.

online university

I am really thinking of getting a new course for additional knowledge, something in line with banking or business since I am a graduate of Accountancy. However, with my schedule now, and having 2 jobs , I find it close to impossible to enroll myself in another course. But lo and behold, I saw a Capella University , and they offer online university degree for busy people like me. I will be taking the courses through the internet and that would save me time since I can get into my studies at home after work. Capella University has a trusted , and tested program for online schooling and I can't wait to get in touch with them by tomorrow. I hope I can get into a new course by next month.

Mall Hit yesterday

Went to the mall with my mom and dad yesterday , before I headed to the Arena. I bought a few toiletries for myself and a nice polo shirt with jeans for my nephew. Since we are expecting a new baby ( a girl, by the way) by November, I already checked out some dresses and cute little shoes for the new princess in our house. I went all over the place and got a few items again. I just met up with my dad ( who bought himself some air tools ) around two hours after. It was another tiring day, but as always , I had so much fun shopping .

Dreaming about Vegas

As i recently posted, I am planning to have another week long vacation at Vegas, if my schedule at the bank would permit me to. I've recently seen over the TV and magazines some new attractions in the area, not to mention some shopping stores, and this makes me really excited. I called my cousin in LA , because prior to visiting Vegas, I will first stay with him and his family for a few days, then we will all troop to Vegas to have see our dream destination. Truly, Las Vegas vacations are worth waiting.

Back to Vegas

It's been 2 years since I last visited my relatives in LA, and I am excited to see them again this year for a short 1 week vacation. Just like last time, we are planning to go crazy shopping at downtown. A side trip to Las Vegas is also a part of our itinerary, so I am looking for a nice hotels in las vegas , and we are getting two rooms. I didn't tried playing last time , but im definitely giving it a try next time , since I enjoyed my casino experience at Reno.

Handyman

We just discovered that a few items in our house needs replacements already. And as I mentioned earlier, we need to get some carpets at the home section. Then my dad will stay at the Hardware section to get some lighting fixtures and bar faucets . This section is really my dad's favorite, and he can stay there while me and my mom check out the shoes and clothes section. Come Sunday, it's renovating and redecorating day for us. Whew! Busy weekend ahead.

For the home

We will be out during the weekend for some shopping. No, its not really for my OWN shopping, but we will look for some baby girl stuff for the latest addition in our family by November. I am so excited to finally buy those cute little dresses for little girls. Then we are also dropping by the home section, we need to get a new home theater carpet because the one we have for now needs replacing badly. I can't wait to hit the mall again, its been a while because I got too busy with work lately.

Craving

Your Ice Cream Personality:

You like to think of yourself as a fairly modest person. And it's true that you don't talk yourself up... but you're also pretty happy with who you are.

You are incredibly cautious. You rather miss out on something than make a mistake. No one would ever call you wild... but they would call you responsible.

You are a somewhat open minded person, but deep down you're fairly conservative. You don't like trying new things very much. And if you do find something new you like, you stick with it.

You tend to have a one track mind. You prefer not to multitask.

You can be a big dramatic and over the top sometimes. You are bold in every way
